I know! Can you believe it? It’s like my same map, save for a few exceptions. For one, Rove does not think Obama will take Indiana. After some further thought on this, he’s probably right. Anyways, I stand by my likely erroneous prediction. Also, he thinks North Carolina will stay in the Republican column.
The other discrepancy is a blue Colorado, and I have to admit, this was my one mistake in my predictions that I didn’t intend to make. Colorado is totally going for Obama (I think). The fact that my map is very much in line with the dark lord Karl Rove kind of bolsters (maybe) it’s credibility. I based much of my predictions on trends in the state polling and tried to stay away from broad indicators nationwide of a potential sweep (which I don’t think is likely).
I told my professor last night that we’re in for an early night if Obama holds Pennsylvania and takes Virginia, North Carolina, Florida or Ohio. If McCain wins Pennsylvania but losses Virginia, we’re going to be in for an interesting, long night. Obama could still very likely trump him in the west, but the maverick won’t be going down without a fight. Plus, we’ve got to see if Prop. 8 in California flies (that’s the evil gay marriage amendment for anyone not in the Cali. know).
I will probably not post much today, I’m busy doing journalism bizness, but I may have some fun, short prewritten victory pieces for both candidates to post. I’ll prewrite them so I can launch them from my iPod, but I’ll post both of them just for fun anyways. So look for that.
Now go vote!
